Tear drop shaped dish / wall plate from the so-called Negro / Tribal series series by Michael Andersen & Søn, Bornholm, Denmark. Some also attribute this piece to the Harlekin series .
Typical for the Negro / Tribal series is the decoration inspired by African wildlife and African ornamentation. Here you find a row of stylized antelopes.
Made ca 1950s and most likely designed by Marianne Starck.
The used sgrafitto technique gives a great contrast between the glazed and unglazed parts.
There is a well on verso for hanging it on the wall.
On verso the Michael Andersen sign - a shield with three fishes, which also is the coat of arms for the town Rønne on the island Bornholm where the pottery was situated. Model no. 5733.
Very good used condition
No chips, cracks, crazing or repairs.
A few minor irregularities in glaze and clay from production.
Minor signs from age and use.
