Large oblong wall tile by Marianne Starck for Michael Andersen & Søn (MA&S).
This could be a very early piece by Marianne Starck as it is signed with MSt and not MS as seen on other pieces.
The handpainted decor with a young love couple is designed by Marianne Starck and made ca. 1960s.
It´s made in Persia technique, a special craquelee technique developed at Michael Andersen pottery in the 1930s.
On verso marked with the Michael Andersen & Son hallmark - a shield with 3 fishes (heering) which also is the coat of arms for the town Rønne where the pottery was situated, and MS (for Marianne Starck)

Marianne Starck (1938-2007) was the artistic leader at Michael Andersen pottery for decades. She was a graphic artist and came from Northern Germany to the pottery in the 1950s and stayed there until it closed in 1993. She made a lot of great designs through the years always renewing her artistic language. A very talented and versatile artist.
