A stunning piece designed by Marianne Starck for the famous Danish ceramic workshop Michael Andersen & Søn (MA&S) on the island of Bornholm. Made ca 1960s. You can both use it as a large bowl or as a wall decor.

The handpainted decor with three charming cats is made with Persia technique, a special craquelee technique developed at Michael Andersen in the 1930s by David Andersen. They won a gold medal for this at the Worlds Fair in Brussels in 1935. 

Marianne Starck (1938-2007) was the artistic leader at Michael Andersen & Søn for decades. She was from Northern Germany and came to MA&S in the 1950s. She stayed there until it closed in 1993. She was a very innovative and versatile artist who made many iconic designs for the ceramic workshop. 

Fully marked on bottom.

Very good used condition.
No chips, cracks or repairs. 
Minor surface marks.
A tiny spot under bowl where the colored glaze hasn´t covered completely. This is from production.
